Founded in 1974 as South Glamorgan Bridge Club by former members of privately owned Cardiff Bridge Club, the club occupied rented premises until 1990 when it merged with Penylan Bowling Club as Cardiff Bridge Club. Penylan Club, which was founded in 1909 by Lord Tredegar,  is now its permanent home. The spacious club hall provides a comfortable atmosphere for bridge with the pleasant surroundings of the bowling green and bar nearby.

The Bridge Club has some 150 members. It is affiliated to the Welsh Bridge Union (see Bridge links) and awards masterpoints at all main duplicate sessions.

The club has professional Tournament Directors. Members or visitors without a bridge partner should mention this to the TD, who will usually be able to arrange one.

The club meets for duplicate sessions at 7.15pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Monday evenings are for beginners with some tuition, starting at 7.15pm.

On Thursday evenings, in addition to normal duplicate, there is a practice session for beginners to duplicate bridge. The last Thursday in each month is Teams night.

The club operates a Bridge Handicap scheme that offers players of any standard a fair chance of winning the small Handicaps prizes available.

Visitors are always welcome.

The club is situated in a small cul-de-sac between 51 and 53 Marlborough Road, Cardiff. Please see the maps by following the links on the left.
